This article goes over how to complete the Log Food task on the home screen. We will review how to log meals, snacks, and drinks, how to create a recipe, review your recipes, and review your past meals. It might be worth noting that this app isn't optimally built for planning meals in advance. The purpose of this module is to record a meal AFTER you've eaten it.
Step 1: Find Your Log Food Activity
Exercise activities will appear on your home screen in the To-Do section. The task will look something like this:
Step 2: Log a Food Item
To log a food item, you will first need to choose which type of entry you want to make: Meal, Snack, or Drink.
Next, click on the Add Entry button, and a screen with a search bar will appear. Here, begin to type the food you wish to enter.
A list will appear with two categories of options: Common and Branded. You can choose a common food, like an apple, or a specific food brand like "GoGo Squeeze, Applesauce".
Once you have selected your food item, you will choose the serving size. The app will automatically fill out the nutritional information for that food item.
When you are satisfied with your entry, click Save. This will take you back to the first Log Meal screen. You will have the option to add another entry along with add any notes/photos. When you are completely finished updating the meal, click Save Meal.
Step 3: Create a New Recipe
If you eat the same foods frequently or eat homemade meals, you do have the option to log a recipe instead of logging individual food items.
To log a recipe, go to the Log Food task on the home screen and click the Add Entry button. At the top of the Search screen, move the toggle from "Foods" to "Recipes". Click on the Create New Recipe button at the center of the screen.
First, you will be asked to come up with a name for your recipe, and fill out the serving size. Then, you can add ingredients to your recipe.
Click on the Add Ingredient button, and type to search the ingredients in your recipe (just like you would if you were logging new food items). You will need to indicate the serving size for each ingredient.
Once you have added all of the ingredients to your recipe, you can click Save or Save & Log. Clicking Save will just add the recipe to your collection, while clicking Save & Log will save the recipe and add it to the list of foods you ate in this meal.
As previously mentioned, you can use the recipes function to log all of the ingredients in a homemade food item, or you can log all of the foods in a meet you eat frequently. This will save you from having to enter those daily meal items every single time you go into the app.
Step 4: Finding Your Recipes
You can find your recipes in the Log Food task by adding a New Entry, switching the toggle from "Foods" to "Recipes", and beginning to type in the title of your recipe.
Alternatively, you can go to the More section of the app, and click on My Recipes.
Here, you can also click the tiny (+) in the top right corner to add new recipes.
Step 5: Reviewing Past Food Entries
You can review and edit past food entries in the History section.
First, find the Log Food card. It will show you how many meals you have logged in the past 7 days.
If you click on that card, you will see a list of all of the past meals you have logged. If you find the specific meal of interest and click on View Details, you can review nutritional information and specific food items you logged.
