This article goes over how to manage a program's group chat(s). We will review how to moderate messages, how to tell when participants deliver new messages, and how to send messages of your own.
Group Chat
To access the group chats for your program, click on the Group Chats item in the menu on the left side of your screen. You will see all of the group chats for your program listed on this page. Each chat in this list will display its name, privacy status, and the number of subscribers.
Update Subscriber List
To view the subscribers for a given chat, just click on the hyperlinked words "X subscribers" (i.e. "3 subscribers"). You can add, edit and remove subscribers on this page. In most cases, your Pattern Health program manager will make sure that participants are added to their group chat automatically. Should you need to make any changes, however, you can do so here.
Review Group Chat Messages
To view the messages that have been sent in your group chat, click on the speech bubble icon at the right side of the group chat in the list.
You will be directed to a dashboard that looks like the screenshot below. Though it may take some time to load, you will see a list of all of your group chats appear under the Chats section on the left half of the screen. When you select the group chat of interest from that menu, you will be able to see all of the recent messages from that chat on the right side of your screen.
At the top of your chat, you will see light blue icons. These indicate some of the basic settings for your chat:
Is it Moderated (e.g. do all participant messages need to be approved by an admin in the console before they can be shared with the group)?
Is it Private (e.g. do all participants need to be invited to this group chat before they can participate)?
Is it Anonymous (e.g. do all participants need to set up an alias and an icon before they can send messages in the chat)?
Approve/Disapprove Messages - Moderated Chat
In a Moderated group chat, when a participant sends a message that needs an administrator's approval, you will see a small yellow icon in the top left corner of your screen (in the chat list). All of the new messages with pending approval will be highlighted in yellow.
To approve or disapprove of a message, hover over the new message and click on the thumbs up or down icon to approve or disapprove.
If you accidentally approve a message that is not appropriate for the chat, just click on the message, click on the drop-down menu at the right side of the screen, and select Reject Message or Delete Message.
Send Group Chat Messages
To send your own message in a group chat, simply begin typing your message in the text box at the bottom of the screen. You may choose to send the message as yourself or as an anonymous moderator. To change that setting, click on the (M) icon to the left of the text box.
When you have finished typing out your message, simply press send!
What do Group Chats look like in the app?
