This article reviews the basics of Withings’ integration with our console. Here, you can review what data is collected from Withings devices, how to review biometric data from Withings in the console, and how to backfill Withings data.
1. What Data is Collected From Withings?
The following chart outlines the data that we can collect from Withings devices today.
Biometric | Frequency | Data Collected (device dependent) |
Steps |
Upon Sync |
Delivered in collections of measurement collected at the same time containing:
Duration of measurement collections is not specified. |
Heart Rate (HR) |
Upon Collection or Sync |
Delivered in a collection of snapshots containing:

Continuous HR |
Upon Sync |

Duration between timestamps is not specified. |
Activity / Workout |

Sleep |
Upon Sync |
Sleep duration |
Weight |
Upon Collection or Sync |
Single weight data point |
Blood pressure (BP) |
Upon Collection or Sync |
Systolic and diastolic BP values |
We access this biometric data using Withings’ API. For Pattern Health to access the data, a participant must first link their device to our platform. Data is then transferred from the Withings’ cloud to Pattern Health after the user syncs their device(s). Syncing for most devices should happen automatically, either on a predefined schedule (set by Withings’) or after a data point is captured (for single data points such as blood pressure). User’s can force a sync by opening their Withings’ Health Mate app and selecting the sync option.
Currently, we support collecting a participant’s step count, heart rate, workouts, sleep, weight, and blood pressure. Additional biometrics can be supported, please contact support@pattern.health to inquire.
2. Where can I review biometric data from Withings in the console?
To review a participant's biometric data, go to the participant's profile and click on the Measurements tab. There you will see daily/weekly/monthly summaries of their biometrics (i.e. sleep, steps, etc.).
For more information on managing a participant's measurements, please review this article.
You can also review a participant's biometric data by downloading a Biometrics Report. For instructions on how to complete this export, please review this article.
3. How can I backfill Withings data?
A backfill might be necessary if there is a discrepancy between the data you see in a Withings export and the data in a participant's Measurements tab or biometrics export.
First, go to a participant's profile and click on the Devices tab. You will see a section titled "Withings" towards the bottom of the page.
Choose which biometric type you would like to load (i.e. all historical, activity, measures, or sleep data) and the date range that you would like to load from.
Then, press the blue Load button. The backfill will take several minutes.
