The Pattern Health Platform rules engine can send email notifications to care teams in a variety of circumstances. This article outlines how and when we send messages to care teams.
Background: What is a care team?
A care team is a group of study admins, physicians, researchers, or other team members that manage users in the Pattern Health Console. Care teams are set up in the console prior to the launch of a program.
Care Team Notifications
Pattern Health's platform uses configurable message templates and a rules engine to send email notifications to care teams. These notifications can be sent in a variety of situations, including:
- Alerts for concerning biometric values (i.e., heart rate, weight, blood pressure, blood glucose).
- Notifications for assessment results (i.e., symptom check-in results, study eligibility screens).
- Mental health warnings, suicidality alerts
- Notifications for a new chat message from a participant
- Notifications for new enrollment in a program
Once a Care Team notification has been set up, providers will receive an email notification when a participant matches any of the defined criteria.
Each message includes a text description and a link to the patient's profile in the Pattern Health Console. We do not include any identifying information in the email notifications to keep patient information secure.

The subject line, institution logo, message body, and sign-off are all customizable.
